Computer Club Minutes
2005-2006
November 2, 2005
President Arvella called
the first meeting of the new season of 2005-2006 to
order at the new time of 9:30 o’clock. Many of the 52
members present were new this year. The minutes of the
last meeting were approved as published. The Treasurer,
Margaret Wallace, reported the income and expenses
stating the balance on hand to be $2,039.87. She
mentioned that much of the income was made by want ads
this summer and empty ink cartridges placed in the box
across from the Mailboxes. Please continue to save and
turn in your empty ink cartridges (each one in a
separate plastic bag).
There was no Old Business or Committee
Reports.
Arvella stated that the Computer Club
subscribes to two magazines, which are placed in the
Library for everyone’s use These subscriptions will soon
be ending. It was voted to continue taking these two
magazines.
Announcements
The Country Store is next Wed, Nov. 9
at 10:30 AM. Help is needed setting up and taking orders
for Cards and Labels. Since the Country Store is going
to be every Second Wed. of the month and starts during
our meetings, help will also be needed to man the table
until the meetings are over.
There will be NO meeting Nov. 23 (the
day before Thanksgiving).
The Computer Room is now open for
everyone’s use Tue. & Thurs. 6:30 to 8 PM. Monitors are
needed so the hours can be extended. The Rules for use
of the Computer Room are posted on our Bulletin Board
across from the Mailboxes and also on the door of the
Computer Room. There is no charge for members; however,
visitors must pay a $1 fee each time they use the room.
There will be a slight charge for printing.
A volunteer is needed to vacuum and
dust the Computer Room each week. Please help if you
have some free time to do this.
Classes
Windows XP taught by Arnie Dickinson
starts next Mon., Nov. 7. The classes will be 10-12. At
this time there are only a couple of opens for this
class left.
Since Elaine Olson, our Class
Coordinator, hasn’t arrived yet, no other classes are
scheduled at this time. As soon as they are, the list
will be posted on the Bulletin Board across from the
mailboxes. We would like to have your suggestions for
new classes, which would interest you, or speakers you
would like to hear for our Mini Classes on the alternate
Wednesdays.
The Meeting was adjourned after which
Bob Wagenvoort discussed the program Skype which can be
used to telephone family and friends in the US and
Canada through the computer. He will give a mini class
next week on this.
Arnie showed us a couple of his new
“toys” – a 40 Gig external hard drive which he bought
through “xpcgear.com” and his PDA Garmin 3600 direction
finder, which includes GPS technology, was bought
through “getfeetwet.com.” Both are very useful and the
external hard drive can hold all the information and
pictures on your computer so you can bring this back and
forth to home each summer or use it on someone else’s
computer if yours isn’t available.
We will have a Question and Answer
Period, also, next week so bring in those questions,
which are giving you a problem, and we will try to find
an answer for you.
Respectfully submitted, Barbara

money from non members.
There is a box by the
