Computer Club Minutes
November 7, 2007
Our first meeting of the season for the Computer Club was called to
order by our President Arvella Taratuta at 9:30 AM with 56 members
present. Arvella welcomed everyone and said it was nice to be back and
to see so many in the Park already. The Secretary’s report for the last
meeting was reviewed and accepted as printed. The Treasurer reported a
balance of $7,765.90 in the treasury. He noted that everyone had worked
hard last year since we only had $244.14 when we started last November.
For our new members, we are working to earn enough to replace all the
computers and monitors in the Computer Room.
Arvella thanked those who had cleaned the Computer Room and all the
equipment before she got here (Mag Fitterer, Dean Mandorfer, Bob Burgi,
and Barbara Bissell and, also, . Bob Wagonvoort, who got all the
computers ready for the season.)
Unfinished Business: We will still be doing Wed. Barbeques,
whenever they need someone, and Shirley volunteered last year to head
these up. I think Shirley was surprised to hear this! Monitors:
Since the Park no longer has any free wireless areas for people to use,
Monitors are needed so our members and Park owners and renters may come
up into the Computer Room during the evening hours to check their
E-mail. We will start with two evenings 6:30 – 8 PM Tuesdays and
Thursdays and see if additional nights are needed later when more come
into the Park. If you would like to be a Monitor, please contact Arvella
2765. The charge for this service is FREE to Computer Club members and
$1/visit for non-members. There is a printing charge for everyone.
New Business: A helper is needed to dust and vacuum the Computer
Room once a week. (Note: A Big Thank You!! We are fortunate because a
new member and his wife, Pask & Jean Ferrara volunteered to do this
after the meeting. If someone else would like to assist them, turns
could be taken so it isn’t a big chore for anyone.)
Classes: The only Class starting now is Windows XP, which will
begin Mon., Nov. 12 for four weeks. There is still openings available so
if you would like to take this class
contact Arnie 2188 or Arvella 2765. Elaine, our Class coordinator,
was ill so no other classes have been set up yet. As soon as they are
they will be posted on the Bulletin Board by the mailboxes. THE CLUB
NEEDS NEW TEACHERS AND NEW IDEAS. IF YOU HAVE ANY, PLEASE LET US KNOW.
The meeting adjourned at 9:55 AM after which Arnie gave a very
interesting discussion on “Print Screen”.

Barbara Bissell, Sec.

The Computer Club was called to order by our President, Arvella, at
9:30 AM with 40 members present. The minutes of the previous meeting was
approved as printed. The Treasurer reported that we had around $8,563 in
the treasury. The dues, labels and business cards have helped increase
the amount.
Larry asked to speak to the Computer Club. He said additional T1s are
being added – one should be working by the end of this month and 4 more
hopefully by the end of the year. Over 120 have signed up for the WiFi
so far and Larry asked help from the Computer Club setting it up at the
various spaces. He will train those willing to help. Several

for all the help Bob has given the Computer Club, we are hosting a
“Thank You Party” Wed., Dec. 5 at 6:30-8 PM. This is open to everyone in

Plan on coming. We are all going to miss Bob but wish him well this
winter and hope he can come back next year.

requested on the tags.

The meeting was called to order at 9:30 AM by our
president, Arvella, with 70 members present.
The minutes of the Jan. 16th
meeting were approved as printed. The treasurer
reported a balance in the treasury of $3,315.74.
Committee Reports:
Nominating Committee:
Since no one was there from the
Nominating Committee the President ran the Election of Officers. This
year the Vice President and Treasurer’s offices were up for election.
Artis Golay had volunteered to fill the position of Vice President and
Pat Galyardt for the position of Treasurer. Since there were no other
names presented Artis and Pat were unanimously voted in. Arvella told
everyone that next year the positions of President and Secretary were
going to be open. A reminder that our By-laws require new officers (Arvella
and Barbara have both filled two terms) so start thinking if you would
like either of these offices.
Super Bowl:
Judi Scholz gave her report on the Superbowl. A profit of $455 was
realized. Judy thanked everyone who helped from set-up, cooking, pies,
game board, running the projector, sales, ticket takers, clean up, etc.
We have to decide if we want to do this again next year. A Big Thank you
was given to Judi by Arvella and everyone present.
Barbeque Feb. 27:
Shirley Steffen spoke on the upcoming Barbeque. She
passed clipboards around for helpers and desserts. Arvella suggested
that the money realized from the Barbeque be donated to the Decorating
Committee. After some discussion it was so moved.
Country Store Feb. 13:
Next Wed. is the Country Store. If you would like to help Chuck Hillen
let Arvella know. Don’t forget to order Cards and Labels if you need
them.

Tues, & Thurs. evenings from 6:30-8:30 PM and, also, Sat. from 10-12.

salads and, also, baked potatoes. Set-up workers should be there at 8
AM, salad makers, cookers, and desserts at 10 AM and clean-up committee
at 12:30 PM. Note: THERE WILL BE NO MEETING NEXT WEDNESDAY, FEB.
27 SINCE SO MANY WILL BE WORKING THE BBQ.
Country Store:
The Country Store was a huge success last week. $250 was realized from
card and label orders.
Super Bowl:
Since we did so well at the Super Bowl
Tailgate Party, it has been decided that we will host next year’s Super
Bowl Party, also.
Monitors:
Rosella noted that 246 people have signed in to use the Computer Room
when it is open on Tues., Thurs. and Sat. Having the room open is
definitely useful to the Park.
Classes:
Elaine spoke about all
the upcoming classes. The full list and dates will be posted on the
Board across from the mailboxes and on the GV Web Page. Teachers and
Helpers are needed. Elaine said most of the teachers have been doing
it for 9 years now and with 310 members there should be others out there
who could teach or help. All classes must be paid for before the class
begins so the teachers don’t have to handle money. Also, at our Wed.
meetings it is a good idea to bring a pencil and paper to jot down notes
and information since handout are not always available.
The upcoming classes are:
Introduction to Word Processing in Works, One-on-One (one teacher to one
pupil to answer questions), Photo Show Brush-up, Web Search Techniques,
Camera Download, Christmas Letter with Pictures in Printmaster, Merging
Names in Printmaster, Advanced Printmaster Tips, and CD Labels in

PM conducted by Peggy Richardson and Ted Linderman.

$75.

are available for sale.
The meeting adjourned at
9:50 AM after which Arnie Dickinson gave a program on Customizing your
Computer. He, also, noted how important it was to backup your pictures,
documents, etc. onto a stick or external drive just in case your
computer crashed.
DON’T FORGET, NO MEETING
NEXT WEEK BECAUSE OF THE BBQ.
Respectfully submitted, Barbara Bissell,
Sec.

helped. Shirley noted that next year she would make some changes such as

was made, seconded and voted for this be done.
New Microsoft Office Program:
