Summer is gone, many residents are returning. We have 177 here already. It
is getting exciting.
Our refurbishing project is nearly completed. We have
some carpeting to do yet in the Billiards Room. The new billiards tables will
not be ready from the manufacturer until the first of November. As soon as
they are ready, we will have our old tables removed (traded in), the carpet
installed and then the new billiards tables can be delivered. If everything
goes according to plan, this should only take a couple of days or a week at
most. Unfortunately, coordinating different companies isn’t always easy. The
painting is completed in the Billiards Room and it looks quite nice. I’m sure
all the pool players will be happy.
All the rest of the carpeting is installed. Unfortunately, we found
manufacturer’s flaws in several places in one roll after it had been installed
upstairs, but they should be here the second week of October to remove the
flawed carpet and install new in it’s place.
The countertops are installed in the little card room and all of the rooms
upstairs We have to have the countertop installers’ return to complete a
special corner in the arts & crafts room where the hot water heater is
located. Also I want them to fix the caulking on what is already installed.
Both of these things should be done before the middle of October. I guess it’s
time to buy the faucet and the sink. We’ll have to have an open house when
everyone is back so we can admire our new décor. It looks really super!
I am asking that no one hang anything on the walls until the Design Team
has a chance to get here and make decisions as to what we should have. I still
want to do the Art in the Park like we did last year. The Design Team has many
wonderful ideas. So we’ll all be pleasantly surprised when it is all finished.
We’ve finished the palm tree trimming and had the streets swept. It even
rained the day after the sweeper was here which really helped get the streets
clean. What good luck!!
This summer we had a lot of mosquitoes. We haven’t really had that many in
the past. I discovered that we might be able to treat for mosquitoes with a
Pest company. I’m investigating this possibility for the coming year as to
cost, safety for people as well as pets, etc. I will let you know what I find
out.
I have been busy working on next year’s budget. As you know we are changing
to a fiscal year beginning January 2007 through June 30 2007. This way our
fiscal year will run from July 1 through June 30 in the coming years. So I am
working on fiscal year 2007 budget now and in a couple months will start on
Fiscal 08.
We are already starting flu and pneumonia shots. You will be able to get
your inoculations during the course of the fall. Also, we are planning a new
picture book for the 06-07 season. Details are available in the Activity
Office.
We are still putting the final touches on the resort, but all in all we’re
ready, so come on down! The weather has been really
wonderful and we miss you all.
See you soon,
Dell
