Manager's Report

Dec. 5, 2006

Today we have 639 spaces full, 57 renters and 582 owners. This compares favorably to last year at this time when we had 555 owners and 45 renters for a total of 600.

I am happy to report that the billiards room carpet has been installed and the new tables are here. Everyone seems happy with the tables and the new décor on the room.

Dues coupons are ready for our next fiscal year. There are only two quarters in the coming 07 fiscal year. We will send all four quarters out for the next fiscal year 08 which begins on July 1, 2007. Any resident who wishes to pay for the full calendar year may do so. We have had several who have already done so.

We are having some trouble with the sewer in the men’s room at the south laundry facility. Coopers was out yesterday. As you may recall we had problems there last year, but it cleared up over the summer. I caution users to be conservative with the amount of toilet tissue they use there.

Last week two volunteers, Jack Schultz and Mel Olson, painted the green wall in the small card room tan to match the rest of the walls. I’m anxious to see how many people like it better this way. I certainly heard plenty about the green wall. It was not too popular. At any rate, it is fixed. You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time. (Even though we try!)

The streets are decorated, the buildings are all lighted and the park looks very festive. Christmas is my favorite time of year. The angel tree in the Activities office is bringing in the loot for the children of low income families in the Apache Junction area. These children are part of Project Help through the Apache Junction schools. They have collected bicycles, dolls, stuffed animals, electronics, and I saw an Easy Bake Oven over there. Plus they have collected $600 in donations that will the response from our residents has been overwhelmingly generous this year as in past years. We have the best people here!

Our Activities Office is a very busy place this time of year. Not only are they coordinating the angel tree and 55 activities, finding meeting places for everyone, but planning all sorts of programs and events to keep us all entertained. Most events are filling up within a few days, with extra buses needing to be lined up for special trips. This fall they have sponsored car pools outings, Continental Breakfast on opposite Saturdays from the Pancake Breakfast, as well as the Sunday Afternoon Delight once a month.

The newsletter is now 16 pages long and we have a fantastic new look on GV7. I don’t know who showed Jan how to animate her screens, but I know I enjoy them. One of Jan’s goals this year is to get more people involved in the activities. The Activities Office has two main projects for fundraising: The newsletter advertising and commission from sales of newspaper subscriptions. Funds from these activities go to replacement of exercise room equipment, kitchen equipment, tables and chairs, sound equipment.

We have many opportunities for new residents to participate as those who have been in charge of activities for many years wish to pursue other interests.

Volunteers drive the effort in the Activities office as well as in other aspects of the resort.

Our committees are giving reports today. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the committee members for all the work they do. As the committees report it is important to think about all the time these people spend working in their special field for our community.

Last, but not least, I want to thank the Board of Directors for the time and effort they put in to make our park a home.
